Situation

When using the Microsolt Windows RDP client to remote control my Windows 2003 eDirectory server, the dstrace screen does not appear.  When I turn on Trace from the remote loader console, I can not see the Trace screen.
I am able to see the dstrace screen if run trace from the physical server console.

Resolution

Workaround for Windows 2003:

Connect to the Windows server console session (session 0) with the /console switch on the command line: mstsc /console

For Windows 2000, there is no workaround.  See Microsoft Support Knowledge Base article 311926.
