Password Policy is Overwritten with GPO Password Policy

Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 SP1 (OES 2SP1) Linux
Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 SP2 (OES 2SP2) Linux

Situation

A Group Policy Object was created and linked to the domain container or a container with in the domain. The existing password policy was to be retained.

In the /etc/opt/novell/xad/xad.ini “XADRETAINPOLICIES = yes†confirmed the existing password policy is to be retained.

Performed an ldapsearch to view which password policy the container thought was assigned.

Example of and ldapsearch for dc=dsfw,dc=novell,dc=com

LDAPCONF=/etc/opt/novell/xad/openldap/ldap.conf ldapsearch -Y EXTERNAL -b dc=dsfw,dc=novell,dc=com -s base nspmPasswordpolicyDN
