ndssnmpsa hangs on startup when ndssnmpsa.log is larger than 1 MB

Environment

Novell eDirectory 8.8.5.4 and prior for Linux
Novell eDirectory 8.8.5.4 and prior for Solaris
Novell eDirectory 8.8.5.4 and prior for AIX

Situation

When running /etc/init.d/ndssnmpsa start, ndssnmpsa will hang.

Check the /var/opt/novell/eDirectory/log/ndssnmpsa.log and it will be larger than 1 MB.

The /var/opt/novell/eDirectory/log/ndssnmpsa-1.log can be growing in size while the ndssnmpsa is attempting to start.  This log can grow very large and consume the available disk space.



Resolution

This problem has been reported to engineering.

To workaround this issue:

Remove the /var/opt/novell/eDirectory/ndssnmpsa.log and /var/opt/novell/eDirectory/ndssnmpsa-1.log
