ZCM ZPM fails to download Payload files for package

Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 3 - 10.3

Situation

Fresh install of ZCM 10.3 on SLES 10 SP2. After activating the license and the subscription download finished any attempt to cache patches / packages fail. Tried resetting ZCM Patch Management in ZCC > Configuration > Patch Management > Subscription Service Infomration > Reset ZENworks Patch Management Settings. After entering license information and running a new Replication, still unable to cache patches.

Loader-messages.log error:

Resolution

  1. Upon checking the firewall, it was determine that only specific websites are allowed (there by blocking the needed websites to download patches) – this could be the root cause of the issue.
  2. Check to see if the patch can be directly downloaded from the manufacturer
  3. Check to make sure the necessary URL's are open. See Troubleshooting Patch Management Documentation
