Environment

NetIQ Directory & Resource Administrator 8.5.x

NetIQ Directory & Resource Administrator 8.6.x

Resolution

DRA uses ADAM (Windows 2003) / ADLS (Windows 2008) to store configuration data about DRA.

DRA 8.5.x & DRA 8.6.x store the following information in ADAM / ADLS
  • Reporting Services Configuration data
  • Virtual Attributes -- Both configuration & value of the virtual attribute
  • Custom LDAP Queries

DRA 8.6 SP1 adds the following information into ADAM / ADLS

  • Last Logon Job (LLJ) -- Both the configuration for the job & the data collected by the job (Note: LLJ data is re-created each time the job runs)
  • Domain Access  / Exchange Server 2010 Access Account for all managed domains

DRA 8.6 SP2 adds the following information into ADAM / ADLS

  • Additional attributes about the Access account used for all managed domains and Exchange 2010 server access.

Cause

DRA utilizes Microsoft ADAM (installed as an OS component of Windows Server 2003) or Microsoft ADLS (installed as a Server Role in Windows 2008) to store some configuration data. ADAM / ADLS will replicate data to all other DRA servers running ADAM / ADLS. This provides a secure storage location for some DRA configuration data. ADAM / ADLS also provides a more efficient storage & replication method for some DRA Configuration data.
