Situation
After upgrading from the GW801HP1 client, the following error is returned and the client will not start:
Error occurred during the initialization of VM
java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object
Resolution
There is an issue with the GW801HP1 client when installed from the SLED11SP1 Distro. The java installation that is included with the GroupWise client is not unpacking completely and therefore the installation is not complete so when the client is upgraded to 802, this java environment is still incorrect. If the GroupWise 801HP1 client was installed using the file from download.novell.com rather than the Distro, there are no issues with the 802 upgrade.
This has been reported to engineering and the current workaround is to uninstall the GroupWise client completely and then reinstall the GW802 client
