Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 2

Situation

Accessing files that reside on an OES2 SP2 server from a MAC causes afptcpd on that server to go to the top of the list in "top".
afptcpd may even peg the processor at 100% (for a single processor) or more than that (for multiple processors) for a long period of time.  Seemingly not recovering.
File access may be affected as a result.

Resolution

Set the Threads and Connection settings in the iManager plugin back to the defaults of:
Minimum Threads 3
Maximum Threads 32
