Removed or upgraded products are still showing in inventory

Situation

When viewing inventory in the device or in reports, old products that have been removed are still being reported.  Also, duplicates of products that are still installed on the device may be showing.

Resolution

SQL Scripts have been created by Novell development that can be run which will clean out the duplicates and keep the problem from happening again.  The scripts can be downloaded from https://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=8VSYiEB5Hso~ named "ZCM - Scripts to remove duplicate inventory products - See TID 7006479"

Important note: If the zone uses MS SQL, and the previous version of these scripts (from the patch entitled "Scripts to remove duplicate inventory products - See TID 583397", with the file "Remove duplicate inventory.zip" dated January 26 2011) see TID 7009409 Upgrade to ZCM 11.0 or 11.1 fails for zones using MSSQL database

Additional Information

The problem is that the products in the workstations history are showing as currently installed on the device. 
This may result in duplicates of currently installed products showing up.  The reason for the duplicates is that if the product has been upgraded or patched, ZCM keeps the old version in the history as its own product.
