CIFS Users Able To Login, But Cannot Access Mapped Drive: ERROR: Drive Mapping No Longer Available

Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 2
/etc/opt/novell/cifs/cifsctxs.conf

Situation

Despite having multiple contexts listed in the cifsctxs.conf file as configured under iManager, only users listed in the first context are able to login and access mapped drives (i.e. UserA listed under ContextA, where ContextA is listed first in the file).  Any other user, not listed in the first context, can login, but will receive an error about not being able to access the mapped drive (i.e.. UserB listed under ContextB, where ContextB is listed after ContextA in the cifsctxs.conf file).  The drive is reported as no longer being available.

If ContextB is listed first, and then ContextA, then UserA will experience the said problem while UserB will login and be able to access the mapped drives as expected.

Resolution

If the server is setup for DOMAIN PASSTHROUGH mode, then SMB SIGNING must be disabled.  Having SMB SIGNING set to optional or enabled is not a supported configuration.  Set SMB SIGNING explicitly to disabled (this can be done under iManager).

For servers not setup for DOMAIN PASSTHROUGH, but setup in LOCAL mode and experiencing the same symptoms, check back on this document.  This issue has been reported to engineering.
