Cannot import certificates using the primary Access Manager Console

Environment

Novell Access Manager 3.1
Novell Access Manager 3.1 Service Pack 1

Situation

  • Administration of certificates fails on the primary Admin Console (AC)
  • Certificate administration works without any problems on the secondary AC
  • The problem started after running an upgrade on the primary AC which failed due to the lack of assigned RAM.
  • The catalina.out file logged the following java return code trying to run a certificate import using the primary AC:

    "Unable to load NPKIAPI - library could not be found at com.novell.security.japi.pki.NPKIAPI.loadLibrary(NPKIAPI.java:1684"

Resolution

Due to the failed to upgrade process the "/etc/opt/novell/tomcat5/tomcat5.conf" configuration file.
Make sure the tomcat configuration file includes the following configuration directive:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib:/opt/novell/lib
