./install fails right away

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 3 (64 Bit only)

Situation

When trying to run the GroupWise install program (./install) nothing happens. Install does not load and the command prompt is returned.

Running ./install --text (text mode installation)  will cause the following error messageto be displayed:
./python/bin/python2.3: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.5:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Resolution

This issue has been resolved in GroupWise 8.0.2

For versions prior to GroupWise 8.0.2, do the following:

Make sure you have the SLES10SP3 installation CD, or access to an installation source
  • Log in to the server as root.
  • start YaST
  • Under Groups Select software
  • In the software section, select Software Management 
  • In the seach box type "libstdc"
  • Put a check next to libstdc++33-32-bit (x86_64)
  • Click on Accept
After the installation completes you should be able to run the GroupWise install.
