Environment

Novell iFolder 3.8

Situation

When the public and private IP addresses in the iFolder configuration differ, it is possible to have authentication problems from the iFolder client either from the internal network, or the external network, but typically not both.

Resolution

This has been reported to engineering.

Additional Information

Workaround:  A  common workaround to this issue is to make sure that DNS is functioning both internally and externally, and then to reconfigure iFolder to use the DNS name of the server for both the public and private addresses of the iFolder server.  This may be done by completing the following steps:
  1. yast2 novell-ifolder3
  2. Select 'Continue' on the screen LDAP Configuration for Open Enterprise Services already configured.
  3. Select all three components to reconfigure then click 'Next'.
  4. Verify the information on the 'Novell iFolder System Configuration' screen and click 'Next' .
  5. Look for the 'iFolder public URL Host or IP Address' and 'iFolder private URL Host or IP Address' field, configure both fields with the same DNS name, then click 'Next'.
  6. Continue following the prompts in the iFolder configuration wizard until the configuration has been completed.
  7. Restart apache with an rcapache2 restart command
  8. Test
