Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 2
Novell GroupWise Messenger 2

Situation

After updating from LINUX OES2 SP1 to SP2
Starting either the MA or the AA report the same Error

ERROR: LDAP validation failure: No LDAP default credentials.

The Agent does not start and shows Failed.

Resolution

In ConsoleOne find the Messenger objects, under the Messenger LDAPContainer will be the LDAP Profile object.
Go to the properties of the LDAP Profile object | User Settings (bottom of screen)
Supply a valid LDAP Username.
It needs to be in LDAP format, such as: cn=admin,o=novell
Also, click the Set Password button and set a password.

If the above doesn't help another option would be to delete the Messenger LDAP Profile object and recreate it with an appropriate LDAP Username and password.

Once a valid username and password is supplied the problem is resolved.
