SSLVPN hang or becomes non responsive when connecting to an SSLVPN server

Environment

Novell Access Manager 3.1 SSLVPN Server

Situation

When a user tries to connect to SSL VPN in either Kiosk mode or Enterprise mode using the 64-
bit Internet Explorer on a 64-bit Windows XP machine, the connection hangs. The user submits the
credentials but the green connection icon never gets displayed ... the final part of the connection goes
into a loop before before the user is presented with the following message:

The SSL VPN Connection error messge displays the following:
“You are seeing this message because ActiveX control is not installed in your Internet Explorer. To
establish the Novell SSl VPN connection, do one of the following:
1 If you see an information bar at the top, click the bar. Click Allow Blocked Content, then click
Yes.
2 If you are a non-administrator or non-root use of your machine, please click the following link:
Click here
3 Open a new browser window and type the following URL:http(s):<DNS-Name>/sslvpn/
login?forceje=true”.

Resolution

To work around the issue, install the 64-bit JRE and use the following URL to load the applet component using the following URL:

https:<DNS-Name>/sslvpn/login?forcejre
