Environment

PlateSpin Migrate or Protect when performing Incremental Imaging

Situation

During 'Managing Recovery Points' step, while doing an increment, an exception is thrown with the following message:

'Cannot create a file when that file already exists'

Resolution

This issue can occur if the previous incremental job was aborted during the Managing Recovery Points step.

To resolve this issue:

1. Open the appropriate image folder on the image server.

2. Find the image files that have 'backup' appended to the name, also look for any files that have the same name without 'backup' appended.
(eg. NAME.pkgbackup and NAME.pkg or NAME.pkgbackup.index and NAME.pkg.index)

3. Delete the files that do not contain 'backup'.
(eg. Delete NAME.pkg and NAME.pkg.index )

4. Rename the files with 'backup' by removing 'backup' from the file name.
(eg. Rename NAME.pkgbackup and NAME.pkgbackup.index to NAME.pkg and NAME.pkg.index )

5. Run the job again.

Once this is done, next 'Managing Recovery Point(s)' step will succeed.
