Situation

Unable to install pw_mgmt_2.0.1_nw_lin.jar file for Password Mgt.
Installation at GUI screen hangs.
Created a ia_debug file at root of SYS: to enable install debug messages.  Debug shows error: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException

Resolution

This appears to be an issue with the JAVA version currently on NetWare 6.5 SP2.  To fix the problem:

1. Apply Support Pack 3.  This is available at https://download.novell.com. 

or

2. Download JAVA 1.4.2.03 (based on 1.4.2_04) for NetWare.  This is available at https://download.novell.com .  The file name is JVM142SP3.EXE

3. Try the updated Password Management installer (version 2.0.2) available from https://download.novell.com under Password Management 2.0.2 for Novell eDirectory for iManager 2.x.

Additional Information

This version of the installer is not compatible with iManager 2.5.  You must use version 2.0.2 of the password installer on any iManager 2.5 instance.
