Environment

Novell eDirectory 8.7.3 for All Platforms
Novell iManager 2.5

Situation

How to resolve message, "Some of the roles and tasks cannot be displayed" in iManager 2.5.
Message: "Plugin is not installed" for the UDDI Publish and Admin Roles.
Message: "Plugin is not installed" for the iPrintX Management Role.
Message: "Plugin is not installed" for the Linux User Management Role.

Resolution

This message may be displayed for several reasons:

1. RBS is not setup\running in unrestricted mode.  This would be indicated by the following tasks showing a reason of " Task Requires prior version of iManager":

Create Dynamic Group
Create Extended Object
Delete Dynamic Group
Modify Dynamic Group
Universal Password Configuration

To resolve this click on Configure iManager (helpdesk guy) - Role Based Services - RBS Configuration.  Click on the Configure iManager link below the yellow icon and follow the prompts.

2. RBS was previously setup but has not yet been upgraded to 2.5.

3. Old Role objects exist in the collection container.  To verify this after completing steps 1 and 2 above follow TID 7006108.

Only perform these tasks once all other iManager 2.0.2 servers have been upgraded to 2.5.
This is because of reason 3 above.  Refer to TID 7006108 for resolving this, however, this time selecting to delete the following roles:

UDDI Publish
UDDI Inquiry
UDDI Admin

Only preform these tasks once all other iManager 2.0.2 servers have been upgraded to 2.5.
This is because both iManager iPrint plugins for NetWare and Linux are installed into the same tree.  They cannot be run from both platforms nor installed on them.  Novell hopes to resolve this at a future date.
The reason here is that the Linux User Management function can only be performed from an iManager for Linux installation while this message will be seen from a NetWare iManager installation.
