Environment

Novell iManager 2

Situation

How does contextless login work in iManager 2.5?
Does iManager 2.5 uses LDAP to implement contextless login?
What trustee assignements are needed for contextless login to work?
Can I setup contextless login to search on an attribute besides the naming one?
What happens if multiple users have the same naming attribute, e.g cn=jim,ou=test,o=novell and cn=jim,ou=eng,o=novell?

Resolution

iManager 2.5 implements contextless login using the NCP search function.  The search, by default, starts at the top of the tree and queries the naming attribute of every user object.  Therefore, it doesn't matter what naming attribute is used.  iManager 2.5 contextless login feature will examine all of them.
No.  As mentioned above, it uses the NCP search funtion.
Public needs to have Browse Entry Rights on the Tree.  This trustee assignment is always created, when eDirectory is installed.  If you remove this trustee assignment, contextless login will not work.
No.  A feature request has been entered to add this functionality in a future version of iManager.
Contextless login will attempt to login with the first entry found.  It does not present a list of matches and allow the user to pick the desired one.  A feature request has been added to add this functionality in a future version of iManager.
