Situation
A migration or protection job fails when creating the target Virtual Machine (Preparing Files step) with the following error:
"An error occurred in the server: The file exists."
This issue may occur due to excessive temporary files in Windows on PowerConvert/PortabilitySuite Server. There is required temporary free space for proper .NET Framework functionality.
Resolution
1. %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
2. %WINDIR%\Temp
3. Documents and Settings\Portability Suite\Local Settings\Temp
After deleting or backing up the temporary files located in these folders and retrying the job the above error should no longer be returned.
