VOLMN STATUS returns message "Not initialized yet".

Attempting to perform a volume split operation fails with the message "Error:  This service is currently stopped." No information are available in the log files located under SYS:/ETC/VOLMN. Entering"VOLMN STATUS"from the server console returns only the message "Not initialized yet".

All other Distributed File Services (DFS) services function properly, junctions can be accessed, created and deleted etc.

Verify that the Storage Management Services modules are loaded on the server by entering the following command from the server console "smsstart.ncf" then reload VOLSMS.NLM.

Performing a volume split operation requires that the SMS modules are loaded and running on the server, including VOLSMS.NLM. If VOLSMS.NLM is loaded but SMS not it is required to reload VOLSMS after starting SMS.

Also monitor the NetWare logger screen for any errors that may be related to SMS when loading or reloading these modules.
