Environment

Novell iPrint Client for Windows version 5.82
Internet Explorer 9
Firefox 11
Microsoft Windows XP
Microsoft Windows 7

Situation

With the combination of the 5.82 iPrint Client and Firefox 11 or Internet Explorer 9, the progress pop up window bar and/or the completion notification window will pop up behind the browser.  The printer installs fine.

Resolution

Workaround 1:

Find the notification window behind the browser window.  Click OK if the notification window is the completion status window.  However, if the pop up windows are ignored, the iPrint pritner will still successfully install.

Workaround 2:
Within the registry, change:

HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop\ForegroundLockTimeout\200000

to

HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop\ForegroundLockTimeout\0

Future iPrint printer install pop up windows will come in front of the browser.

Cause

To better understand this issue, do a web search for foregroundlocktimeout.  This problem is not unique to iPrint.

You many notice that this problem is different for some machines.  The different results are because some applications set the ForegroundLockTimeout to 0 during install to avoid this issue.

Novell is continue to investigate this issue to determine how to best cope with this situation.
