Unable to send events to Sentinel from the User Application

Novell Sentinel 6.1 Collector

Situation

The User Application is not logging events to Sentinel after enabling logging. The following message is written to the nproduct.log:

[jlogevent]: Failed to connect to cache for application DirXML.

Resolution

The default port that the Identity Manager Collector listens for events from the server isnow 1289. Use the following steps to change the port:

1) Add "LogEnginePort=1289" to /etc/logevent.conf for Linux Servers or c:\windows\logevent.cfg on Windows Servers.

2) On Linux Servers stop the lcache process.

3) Login to the User Application with a Portal Admin and Select Administration>Application Configuration>Logging.

4) Enable "Also send logging messages to audit service" and "Persistent the logging changes".

5) Select Submit to apply the changes.
