Environment

Novell Access Manager 3.1 Linux Novell Identity Server
Novell Access Manager 3.1 Access Administration
Novell Access Manager 3.1 Support Pack 1
Access Manager running on SLES 10 SP3

Situation

Installing Novell Identity server (IDP) on SLES 10 SP3 OS. The OS has one network interface, with an IP address that was statically assigned in YAST. After entering admin credentials and Admin Console IP address, the install returns a warning claiming that the IP address of the system is not statically assigned.

'It appears that there are no static IP addresses available on this system.  The Novell Identity Server, and specifically the Administration Console, will fail to operate properly if the address they are running with is not the same address that was originally used for installation.  If you are aware of this issue and wish to continue installation, please respond "y" '
 to this next prompt.'

Resolution

Ignore the message for now and complete the installation. The install script for Access Manager 3.1 Support Pack 2 will address this.

The format of the network interface configuration files changed between SLES 10 SP2 and SP3, causing the Access Manager install to fail to detect that the interface was statically assigned an IP address. There is no side effect to continuing the installation by ignoring the warning.
