Disabling File Caching causes CCH tax accounting application to fail

Environment

Novell Client 2 SP1 for Windows Vista
Novell Client 2 SP1 for Windows 7
Novell Client 2 SP1 for Windows Server 2008
Novell Client 2 SP1 for Windows Server 2008 R2

Situation

With File Caching enabled, the CCH ProSystem fx Tax (tax accounting) application works properly, but the machine may crash periodically (see TID 3532535). If File Caching is disabled, the application loads, but immediately returns an error:

No sessions available: Maximum number of users exceeded.

If a single machine is accessing the program, it works with File Caching "on" or "off". It's the second machine with File Caching "off" that receives the error. XP machines running 4.91 SP5 continue to work fine with File Caching "off".

Resolution

This issue is resolved in the Novell Client 2 SP1 for Windows (IR2) or later. Download the current update from https://download.novell.com/patch/finder/.
