ndsconfig on Red Hat 5 generates seg fault

One customer had installed eDirectory 8.8.5 on a new Red Hat 5 server virtual machine, but attempts to run "ndsconfig new" or"ndsconfig add" would go through all the prompts to get the required input, and then terminate with a seg fault error.  No DIB was created, no log files created. 

When asked about a core, found that ulimit was set to 0.  After issuing the "ulimit -c unlimited" command, subsequent attempts to configure eDirectory 8.8.5 (also with FTF3) succeeded.
