Situation
External public LDAP directory service(s) were added to the GroupWise address book. Subsequent LDAP queries to these public directories fail, due to a MAPI conflict with the Outlook / Microsoft Windows Messaging MAPI, also installed on the Microsoft Windows XP workstation.
Resolution
Use regedit to modify the values of the following two registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem\MSMapiApps\grpwise.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem\MSMapiApps\gwcma1.dll
In the non-working state, the values of these keys will be Microsoft Outlook. Change the values of both keys to either GroupWise (preferred) or blank. Restart the GroupWise client, and LDAP query functionality will be restored.
