Situation

The Content Credentials Manager is downloaded to the Update Server during the first replication after installing Novell ZENworks Patch Management Server version 6.4 SP2 or above. The Content Credentials Manager allows Administrators to register the ZPM Update Server to receive entitled content. This registration process only needs to be completed once for each entitled content type. The following platforms require the use of the Content Credentials Manager utility:
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Sun Solaris
  • Oracle Enterprise Linux
  • Novell SUSE Linux

Resolution

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Content Support
Novell ZENworks Patch Management offers patch and remediation support for the following versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux:
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 (AS, ES, or WS, x86 or x86_64)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 (AS, ES, or WS, x86 or x86_64)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (Server or Client, x86 or x86_64)
Configure Red Hat Network Credentials
1.    Select the Options tab.
STEP RESULT: The Configuration Options window opens with the Subscription Service tab displaying as the default.

2.    Click Update Now.
STEP RESULT: Replication between the ZPM Update Server and the Global Subscription Server begins.

3.     When the replication is complete, Open a command prompt to the “Replication Services†folder on the ZPM Patch Server (actual path may vary depending on user installation). For Server version 6.4, the location will be:
       <Program Files>\Program Files\Novell\Replication Services

4.     Run the following from the command prompt (entering the Red Hat Network Information as appropriate).
        CredentialsManager /source:redhat /u:<RedHatUserName> /p:<RedHatPassword> /hostname:<MyServerName> /release:<RedHatRelease> /arch:<RedHatArchitecture>
  • For <RedHatRelease>, use one of the following releases:
  • 3AS, 3ES, 3WS, 4AS, 4ES, 4WS, 5Server, or 5Client
  • For <RedHatArchitecture>, use one of the following architectures: r> i386 or x86_64

STEP RESULT: A warning indicating that registering the server with the Credentials Management tool may result in a loss of patch deployment history and will increase replication time is displayed.

5.     Acknowledge the warning by typing Y to confirm the registration.
  • Note: Steps 4 and 5 must be repeated for each Red Hat subscription that ZPM Update will remediate. For example, if multiple platforms are wanted to be remediated RHEL 4 AS, RHEL 4 ES, and RHEL 5 Server, these steps must be performed three times.
6.     Validate the systemid for the ServerName used.
    a.  Navigate to http://rhn.redhat.com.
    b.  Log in using the same Username/Password combination used in step 4.
    c.  Search for Systems matching the ServerName entered in step 4.
    d.  Validate that the server matches the expected subscription.

7.     The ZPM server can now remediate the Red Hat Enterprise Linux machines through the standard ZPM Update user interface.
