Situation
With the GroupWise 7.x client, the double clicking of a file attachment GroupWise would determine the correct application to open the file with. There was also a setting in Tools -> Environment that allowed for how the attachment was opened. "View in a new window or open attachment". This setting is not available in GroupWise 8
Resolution
The behavior has changed in GroupWise 8. Below are the actions and results for the new client:
Action: Double click on an attached file
Result: Open the file attachment in the associated application
Action: Single click on an attached file
Result: File is viewed inside current window
Action: Right click on attached file
Result: User is presented with options to view, view in new window, or open attachment with associated application
Note: If the user is double clicking on an attachment and it is being open in a new "view" window instead of with the associated application check the following:
1) Open the Windows registry editor
2) Go to the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Novell\GroupWise\Client\Setup
3) The value for "File Attach DoubleClick" should be 1 to ensure that the files will be opened with the associated application. If it is 0 then they will be opened in a view window.
