Situation
log files /var/log/messages and /var/log/samba/log.smbd
showing:
Feb 4 20:56:59 oes2-fs1 smbd[5307]: [2010/02/04 20:56:59, 0] smbd/service.c:make_connection(1200)
Feb 4 20:56:59 oes2-fs1 smbd[5307]: ws-xp (192.168.37.11) couldn't find service data
This message appears every time a directory is browsed on the volume data

This message appears every time a directory is browsed on the volume data
Resolution
Samba is simply warning the system administrator that the
workstation, ws-xp, is browsing a share, "data", which does not
appear as an entry in smb.conf.
You can safely ignore the message or add a share entry in smb.conf for the volume concerned, then restart smb and nmb.
