"450 Host Down" errors GWIA on Windows 2008

Situation

When sending an outbound email with GWIA running on Windows 2008 Server, GWIA does not resolve DNS correctly and immediately shows a "450 Host Down" error (for the domain name of the recipient) when trying to send the message.
 
In Diag log mode, GWIA also shows a "No MX records found" error for each outbound message.

Resolution

  1. Right-click My Computer
  2. Go To Properties
  3. Click on Change settings >  Change
  4. Go to the  More tab then put the email domain name (such as "novell.com") in the "Primary DNS suffix of this computer" box.
