Disabling Postfix coexistence with Gwia on Linux SMTP servers

Environment

Novell GroupWise 7 on Linux.
Novell GroupWise 8 on Linux

Situation

When installing GWIA on a Linux server, if the native SMTP server is enabled, like sendmail and postfix. Then Gwia is not able to receive mails.

Resolution

Telnet to gwia server on port 25 and check whether gwia is listening on port 25 or postfix. If the postfix is running on port 25 then stop postfix running the following command on gwia server:

rcpostfix stop.

To stop the Postfix completely run the following command :

chkconfig postfix off.

Shut down the gwia and restart again. This will help to send receive mails outside.
