Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 2 - 10.2
Microsoft Windows 7

Situation

Restoration of a ZENworks image on a device in which Sysprep has been run causes the operating system to attempt to load but then goes blank.

Windows 7 does not boot after restoring a ZENworks image to a Sysprep device.

Resolution

This is fixed in version 10.3 - see KB 7005455 "ZENworks Configuration Management SP3 (10.3) - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at Novell Support.

Workaround: if it is not possible to upgrade to version 10.3 at this time, in the interim Novell has made a Patch available for testing, in the form of a Field Test File (FTF): it can be obtained at Novell Downloads as ZCM_10_2_2_FTF_20100113_565556.zip. This Patch should only be applied if the symptoms above are being experienced, and are causing problems.

Additional Information

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Windows 7 and run Sysprep
2. Create a ZENworks image
3. Restore the ZENworks image to a new machine
