Situation
This problem is seen on systems running OES2 SP2 using the SMP
kernel and have NSS volumes.
When running a backup using Novell SMS the complete system could freeze.
The behaviour can also be observed with third party backup software, and when running any other tool using Novell SMS for example tsatest.

Resolution
This has been fixed. The fix is available from the OES2 SP2 Update
