Access Manager LAG server no longer rotates log files

Environment

Novell Access Manager 3.1 Linux Access Gateway
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 Service Pack 3

Situation

Log files on the Linux Access Gateway such as the /var/log/ics_dyn.log file are no longer being rotated on a regular basis. They continue to grow until manually deleted/archived. The ics_dyn.log file shows errors such as:

error: line too long in state file /var/lib/logrotate.status

Resolution

The /var/lib/logrotate.status file is corrupted. Delete or rename this file and it will be recreated during the next log rotation attempt. At that point, the logs should begin rotating properly.
