Situation

Symptoms:

Even if the target NSS volume if plenty of free space, the restore fails with the following errors in the job report:
  • Error: e000848f - Insufficient disk space.
  • Error: e0009442 - Novell NetWare SMS errors were encountered.
NSS directory quotas that were originally disabled on the NSS target volume get enabled by the restore operation, even if in the advanced configuration of the restore job is selected to NOT restore quotas.



Resolution

Before running the restore job, perform the following operations on the server console:

    1. Unload tsafs
    2. Load tsafs /DirQuotaState=1C
      Restore job should now complete successfully without enabling the directory quotas on the target volume.

      Additional Information

      Please note that the switch "/DirQuotaState=1C" is the equivalent of "/DirQuotaState=4" that instruct the tsafs module to turn the directory quotas OFF during the restore, however, in some environments this last switch failed to work, while the previous successfully allowed the restore job to complete.
