Novell GroupWise 8

Situation

Symptoms

You are updating the MTA software for the primary domain and the MTA fails to update the database version.
ConsoleOne still shows database version 7 for the primary domain, while the MTA has already been updated to version 8.

Changes

MTA for the primary domain has been properly updated from version 7 to version 8, however the installation procedure failed to copy the new dictionary files from the installation source to the primary domain home directory.

Resolution

Compare the dates of the dictionary files (*.dc) currently present in the primary domain home directory with the ones provided with the installation source.

If the dates of the dictionary files currently present in the primary domain home directory are older than the dates of the dictionary files in the installation source, then:

  1. Unload the primary domain MTA;
  2. Copy the dictionary files from the installation source to the domain directory;
  3. Load the primary domain MTA;
  4. Leave to the MTA enough time to complete the database update, that in case of large dibs can take up to 20 minutes.
In case ConsoleOne should still report version 7, please refer to this section of GroupWise 8 documentation.
