iPrint not setting default printer

Novell iPrint for NetWare
Novell iPrint for NetWare Novell NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 8
iPrint Client 5.30
Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2

Situation

Setting the default iPrint printer during installation fails.  An iPrint printer can be set as the default printer by:

  • Install the iPrint printer through the http://x.x.x.x/ipp page
  • iCM (iPrint Client Management)

No error message is returned to the end user.  The default printer is simply not set.  However, an error is logged to the c:\NDPS\ippErrors.txt.

Further testing will reveal that the default printer also fails to be set when selecting the printer to be the default during the creation process of a Microsoft TCP/IP printer.
