Monitor shows the MTA in an unknown state

The MTA stops responding. Monitor shows the status of the MTA as unavailable. Unloading the MTA and reloading it does not fix the problem. The cluster volume has to be unloaded and reloaded, then the MTA has to be restarted for the MTA to start working correctly again.


The file file permissions of the MTA's log directory were not correct. The default log directory is under /var/log/novell/groupwise. Check the permissions of the MTA's log directory to correct this issue.
