Novell ZENworks 11 Configuration Management Support Pack 2 - ZCM 11 SP2
Situation
Some devices show serial number as FFFFFFFF in ZENworks inventory.
Resolution
Workaround for the reconciliation problem: Use the manufacturer specific tool to set the BIOS serial number. Or disable serial number reconciliation. If 11.1 is used, see also http://https://support.microfocus.com/kb/doc.php?id=7009362
Cause
The inventory collector uses either OEM specific API to read bios, or WMI which may return FFFFFFFF if the Serial number is not yet set. Confirm with any WMI tool. If the Serial number is not set properly in the BIOS, or does not report correctly via WMI
