When the virusscanner is started the server freezes

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 2

One of the following patterns are installed:
  1. novell-afptcpd
  2. novell-cifs
  3. novell-apparmor
auditd is running

Situation

When starting the virusscanner, the server freezes after a few seconds. In /var/log/messages their are several general protection faults.

Resolution

It seems that some virusscan software are having problems when auditd is running. Stopping auditd will solve the problem, but no auditing will be available.

Another option would be to clear all entries in /etc/audit.rules.
