Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux SP1
Situation
Files would be skpped from the backup with the following error as seen in the tsafs debug log:
The open system call is failing with errno 13 0x0d (b2bfdba0:FS_VFS_Open [00260]: open failed. ret: 0000000d. arg : /SYS2/gw/domain/wpdomain.db). This means the user connecting to the TSA does not have permission to read the file. It is not related to locking the file. If an eDir user is being used for the backup, try the root user instead. If the engine does not allow use of root, then change the VFS permissions on the file so that the user has at least "read" permission on the file.
The tape software's error log indicated that it failed to obtain a lock on the file in question.
Resolution
Use a user that has full rights to the file system.
