The procedure entry point SunMaplS_IP_40 could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll
Error occurs when launching GroupWise client after upgrading PC from Windows 98 to Windows XP
The problem lies with old Novell Client files being located in the C:\Windows\System: CALWIN32.DLL, CLNWINTH.DLL, and CLNWIN32.DLL.
With the installation of the latest Novell client, the files are now placed in the
C:\Windows\SYSTEM32 directory and the older files in the C:\Windows\System directory will no longer be referenced.
To resolve this issue with no Novell client installed, find and delete any instances of CALWIN32.DLL, CLNWINTH.DLL, and CLNWIN32.DLL.
To resolve the issue if the Novell client is installed, the deletion of the older files is still recommended although they should not be referenced.
Unknown cause. In this specific instance, the customer was upgrading Windows 98 boxes that were set up using an image. We believe the problem was in the Windows 98 image.
This could not be duplicated in house. That is, we were able to upgrade a Win98 PC having GroupWise installed to XP, then remove and re-install Windows Messaging and GroupWise. This allowed GroupWise to start and run correctly. In the customer's case this procedure made no difference. When trying to run GroupWise, the above error still occurred.
