Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

Situation

Trying to connect to the server via Finder gives the error:
'Connection failed: There was an error connecting to the server "<hostname>.<domainname>".
Check the server name or IP address, and then try again. If you are unable to
resolve the problem contact your system administrator."

Resolution

This has been resolved in the  Field Test AFP Patch currently available from download.novell.com.  After you click on the link you will need to select "Product or Technology > Open Enterprise Server > type in Mac OSX 10.6 > click search" A listing of versions of this patch will be given.

This field test patch is for OES2 SP1 servers.  The fix will be included in SP2 once that is officially released

NOTE: Apple has now released 10.6.2

See 'About the Mac OS X v10.6.2 Update'
(http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3874) which specifically includes Network file systems fixes provided for:

* compatibility with third-party AFP servers
