Environment

Novell Identity Manager 3.6.1
Novell Identity Manager Driver - Linux and UNIX - Fan Out
Novell Identity Manager Driver - Mainframe ACF2 Fanout
Novell Identity Manager Driver - Midrange OS/400 Fan Out

Situation

When installing Identity Manager 3.6.1 core install of the Fan-out Driver, the install ends with an error that the eDirectory indexes could not be created.  This only happens when the eDirectory LDAP ports have been set to something other than 389 and 636.  The problem happens on both Windows and Linux platforms.

Resolution

This is due to a bug in the NDSINDEX api that ships with eDirectory 8.8.5  A bug 533323 has been entered on this problem.  To work around the problem, manually create the indexes following the index list in Section A2 Core Driver Indexes of the Administration Guide for any of the Fan-Out drivers.  Please note that the index list gives the LDAP name of the attributes to index.  In most cases the LDAP name is lowercase instead of uppercase.  The documentation in some versions also lists 'Organization' for the 'Organization' attribute.  The correct attribute name is 'o'.
