Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 2 - 10.2.1

Situation

Content created on a particular server will not sync successfully to all content servers in the zone.

The loader-messages.log shows the following:
ContentSyncThreadWorker, unsuccessful download attempt for: 28f43aabc0634318b0d325192123f87b java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out] [] []
[ContentSyncThreadWorker, checksum did not match for: ff9f6b1b748980f2541137e725f0dafd, Expected: f0fbc528515905b3877d5f3e7934fe6bc0597e4ca066b89119d114777b783ad9, Found: 0c2274a33e3146f9edd81592638b4834f3b2a3de84369f8f3d3449e25cdfe53e] [] []

Resolution

Beginning with ZCM 10.2.1, a new feature was added to Restrict IP Addresses.  Mark IP addresses that are not to be used for agent registration and content synchronization as Restricted.  The feature is found on the properties of the server object under Settings > Infrastructure Management > Restricted IP Addresses.

Additional Information

One of the content servers in the zone had multiple interfaces.  The other servers were attempting to synchronize content using an IP address that was inaccessible which caused the connection time outs.
