ZCM services will not stay running and crash after 10.2.1 agent update.

Environment

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with Support Pack 2 - 10.2

Situation

After the install of the ZCM 10.2.1 agent, a reboot is required. After a reboot of the managed device, errors regarding user-management msi were seen in system.evt.

The process msiexec.exe has initiated the restart of SRV-ZENWORKS for the following reason: 
Can not find a title for the reason.
 Minor Reason: 0x80030002
 Shutdown Type: Neustart
 Comment: The Windows Installer initiated a system reboot to continue the configuration of "ZENworks User Management" or complete.

Resolution

Currently, there are two methods that have resolved the issue:

Method One
  1. Stop the Novell ZENworks Agent Service.
  2. Remove the agent cache directory C:\Program Files\Novell\ZENworks\cache\zmd\ZenCache
  3. Unmark the User Management "Installed" option on the primary servers device agent settings. (In ZCC go to Configuration > Device Management > ZENworks Agent > Agent Features)
  4. Restart the Novell ZENworks Agent Service& refresh the ZCM agent (right click the blue Z icon > refresh) and verify that the User Management feature is disabled in the agent properties. (Requires a reboot)
  5. Mark the User Management "Installed" option again in ZCC.
  6. Refresh the agent and see that the User Management feature is back (which requires another reboot)

Second method:
  1. Stop the Novell ZENworks Agent Service.
  2. Remove the agent cache directory C:\Program Files\Novell\ZENworks\cache\zmd\ZenCache
  3. Regenerate the 10.2.1 preagent package
  4. Redeploy the agent update.
