Error 0xDB57 on using same preferred email address for a different internet domain

Configuration:
Using multiple internet domain names in Internet Addressing.
Overriding Internet Addressing of the users and using the same preferred email address for different users but using different internet domain names




Situation

Using same preferred email address and different Internet domain names for multiple users throws out an error "An error occurred modifying an attribute value. the email address is already being used".

Resolution

Reported to engineering.

Additional Information

Steps to duplicate:

  1. Configure multiple domain names eg "abc.com" and "xyz.com" in the Internet Addressing.
  2. Create two users "user1" and "user2".
  3. Go to the properties of "user1" / Groupwise / Internet Addressing / Override/Preferred Address Format  / Use "gwtest" in the preferred email id.
  4. Override internet domain name and select "abc.com" and enable "for incomingemail , recipients are known exclusively by this Internet Domain name ".
  5. Save and exit.
  6. Go to the properties of "user2" and repeat the steps and use  same "gwtest" as the preferred email id, with a change that  override the
    internet domain name with "xyz.com".
  7. It wont allow you save the settings and throw the error "An error occurred modifying an attribute value. The email address is already being used".
