Running the MIGIF3 Command After the Datastore Paths Have Changed

Environment

Novell iFolder 3.7

Situation

The migif3 command is a command line tool used to migrate data from an iFolder 3.2 server to an iFolder 3.7 server.  The 3.2 server itself does NOT need to remain operation for this command to run, IF the the iFolder datastore has been copied over to the iFolder 3.7 server.

Information on using migif3 and it's switches may be found here.  When migif3 is run initially it creates a temporary-server script in the /opt/novell/ifolder3/bin folder, and the path to the 3.2 and 3.7 iFolder datastores are written to this file.  If the path to the datastore changes, and the migif3 command must be rerun, migif3 will fail, and not migrate the data since the temporary-server file contains the datastore locations from the initial run of the script.

Resolution

To return migif3 to an operational condition, modify the temporary-server file and ensure that the correct paths are being used for both the 3.2 and 3.7 iFolder datastores.
