Unable to send Internet mails to GroupWise users through Distribution Lists

Situation

Unable to send Internet mails to GroupWise users through Distribution Lists
GWIA shows "Recipient is undeliverable" when trying to send a mail to a Distribution List
Unable to send Internet mails to any GroupWise users through Distribution Lists

Resolution

Reported to Engineering
 
Workaround Steps:
  1. Launch ConsoleOne.
  2. Click Tools | GroupWise System Operations | Internet Addressing.
  3. Click the Addressing Formats tab if this is GroupWise 8 snap-ins. If GroupWise 7 snap-ins are being used the stay on the current tab.
  4. Put a check mark on "UserID@Internet domain name" in Allowed Address Formats.
  5. Click OK.

Additional Information

Steps to Duplicate:
  1. Launch ConsoleOne.
  2. Create a user named user1.
  3. Click Tools | GroupWise System Operations | Internet Addressing.
  4. Change the default Preferred Address Format to FirstName.LastName@Internet domain name or anything else except UserID@internet domain name.
  5. Now Right Click on user1 and click Properties.
  6. Click GorupWise | Internet Addressing.
  7. Now perform an override on Preferred Email ID and set it to user1a.
  8. Click Apply and Close.
  9. Create a Distribution List named DL1 and add user1 as a member to the Distribution List.
  10. Enable "Expand Distribution Lists on incoming messages" in GWIA Properties | SMTP/MIME | Address Handling.
  11. Now send a mail to DL1 from the Internet.
  12. GWIA shows that the "Recipient is undeliverable".
