Environment

Novell GroupWise 7
Novell GroupWise 8

Situation

Auto-archive fails if the archive directory does not exist
Auto-archive fails when archive location is set by Administrator if the archive directory does not exist

Resolution

This is working as designed.

Workaround Steps:

Have user manually archive an item
OR
Have user manually open their archive by selecting File | Open Archive
OR
The administrator can create the ofxxxarc directory for the user (where xxx stands for the File ID of the user)

Additional Information

Notes:

Even though a valid directory has been entered in ConsoleOne for all the users to Archive mail, the GroupWise client looks for the sub-directory ofxxxarc that is created the first time a user actually archives the mail or when the user opens the Archive. If the directory is missing, then the auto-archive fails. If the user selects File | Open Archive or manually archives a mail message, then Auto-archiving will find this directory and work fine.
